How Business Diplomacy Shapes International Market Entry
International expansion is not only about products and markets, it is also about context.
For technology companies building scalable SaaS solutions and new ventures, understanding the institutional, regulatory, and ecosystem landscape is a critical part of successful market entry.
Earlier this year, representatives from Czech companies, public institutions, and the diplomatic sector gathered in Prague to review the outcomes of business missions and discuss the role of business diplomacy in international growth.
Business missions as a strategic layer of internationalization
The annual Setkání účastníků podnikatelských misí, organized by the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, took place at the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. The event brought together nearly 200 participants from the private sector, government, and diplomatic services.
The agenda focused on evaluating the impact of recent business missions, sharing practical insights from international markets, and discussing how economic and scientific diplomacy can support Czech companies operating beyond domestic borders.
Rather than being limited to traditional exporters, these platforms increasingly address the needs of technology-driven companies — including SaaS providers and venture builders — that scale internationally through services, platforms, and partnerships.
Why business diplomacy matters for SaaS and venture builders
COPS Solutions was represented at the event by our CEO, Ondřej Dvořák. While we do not export physical products, internationalization is a core part of our long-term strategy as we build SaaS solutions and new ventures with global ambition.
For companies expanding into markets such as the Netherlands, business diplomacy provides valuable strategic signals:
- insights into regulatory and institutional frameworks,
- access to relevant public-sector and ecosystem stakeholders,
- and a broader understanding of how international markets are structured and supported.
These inputs help reduce uncertainty and support informed decision-making when entering new markets.
From export support to ecosystem enablement
A recurring theme throughout the event was the evolving role of business missions. Beyond facilitating direct trade opportunities, they increasingly function as ecosystem enablers, connecting companies with institutions, innovation networks, and long-term partners.
Speakers from both government and industry emphasized that economic diplomacy is no longer only about exports in the traditional sense. It is about creating conditions that allow companies to scale internationally, attract partners, and operate sustainably across borders.
For venture-led SaaS companies, this ecosystem perspective is particularly relevant. Market entry depends not only on product–market fit, but also on regulatory clarity, local presence, and trusted networks.
International context as a growth enabler
As Czech companies continue to expand into diverse regions — from Western Europe to emerging global markets — structured dialogue between the private and public sectors remains a key asset.
Participation in events such as this annual meeting provides COPS Solutions with valuable context that complements our hands-on work in SaaS development, venture building, and international market entry. It reinforces the importance of aligning technology, strategy, and institutional awareness when scaling beyond borders.
